Dear Editor,

There has been misinformed and misleading information circulated recently regarding the Prairie Sky Resource Centre including some Letters to the Editor.

For BFI Canada the first part of being a good neighbour is by being honest and dealing in facts. We cannot speak to how other companies conduct themselves — we can only speak to how we have been a good neighbour and community partner where we currently operate and our commitment to you here. We are proud of our track record and the strong positive relationships that we have wherever we operate. So let's look at the facts: Prairie Sky Resource Centre will be a part of an overall southern Alberta waste strategy it will not accept Calgary residential waste. Furthermore, it will accept no hazardous waste, animal carcasses or medical waste. A modern landfill treats waste as a resource that is why Prairie Sky will have a recycling depot, a composting facility and will restore prairie habitat and wetlands. An environmental education centre will also be built so that future generations can learn how to live and work in a more sustainable way. This facility will be located in an industrial area and will be highly engineered. We have conducted extensive studies on the environment and water as well independent traffic studies. Prairie Sky will be built to meet and exceed Alberta Environment standards to protect the land and water. BFI Canada will build road improvements to ensure roads are safe. These are the facts about Prairie Sky. But there are more important facts for you to know — the Prairie Sky Resource Centre will create 28 full time skilled jobs in your community and huge economic spin-off benefits for the entire region. We have listened to the community and want to answer all questions and address all concerns, that is what it means to be a good neighbour and a part of your community. To learn more about the facts please visit our website at www.prairieskycentre.com or by calling 403-684-3621.
