Dear Editor,

A tremendous round of applause for an outstanding effort with the 2018 Christmas Concert for the Okotoks Food Bank.

We have received so many nice compliments on the two sold out shows. Many of our sponsors were thrilled to be part of it and all have already said to count them in again next year.

We especially want to acknowledge and thank Okotoks Ford Lincoln as our platinum sponsor for their very generous support. And a huge thank you to the Evangelical Free Church. What an absolutely marvelous facility. And Wednesday evening we received an incredible surprise…a local family foundation gave us a cheque for $15,000.

We raised an amazing $60,000 plus several truckloads of food bank items (nearly 1,600lb according to Sheila Hughes). That is a 72 per cent increase over last year’s effort, which in turn was a 60 per cent increase over 2016. We have nearly tripled the amount raised in two years. We do owe a special gratitude to George Canyon who helped us take the concert to a new level. Thank you to Barry Harvey who brought in many of sponsors.

Much appreciation to the Western Wheel, Eagle FM, Sun Country FM and 1140 AM for their help in spreading the word.

Tom Coxworth and Doris Daley did a wonderful job of keeping us in line and entertaining the crowd between performances. We are very fortunate to have such consummate professionals leading the evenings.

And thanks to all the performers and stage/sound crew for helping move the concert along so smoothly and quickly.

Much gratitude to all the volunteers, the Dewdney Players, the E-Free Church and so many others. This project has a lot of moving parts, and it came off flawlessly. A special mention to John and Margaret Pearson who spent several days distributing over 100 posters throughout the entire community and did much more at the concerts themselves. A huge thank you to Sobeys, Safeway and Royal LePage Solutions for helping with ticket sales And finally, our sincere appreciation to all of you who attended.

We look forward to a repeat of our success in 2019.
