September is coming up fast and that means the leaves are going to change and fall will soon be upon us. Spend some time soaking up the gorgeous colours of summer one last time this year with these garden themed destinations.

Book a Twilight Picnic at the U of A Botanic Garden

Perfect for a proposal, a special day out with your loved one, or a day with a friend, for $125 + tax the Twilight Picnic gets you admission into the Botanical Garden, live entertainment, sparkling water, and a special picnic box for two. There are plenty of options including vegetarian, vegan, halal, and gluten free. Bookings are available now through September. Not in the mood for food? Reserve a time to simply visit the beautiful garden and walk the grounds.

Play on the Prairies in Bon Accord

Your general admission to Prairie Gardens in Bon Accord gets you so much! It’s your ticket to the adventure farm, a wagon ride, small kid’s maze, big corn maze, animal farm viewing zone, nature trail, and so much more! There are a variety of add-ons, such as pay-for-what you pick, or other bookable adventures like a private chef’s dinner or the farm animal discovery pass. The owners of the farm have adapted their grounds and program to exceed COVID safety rules, so families can come out and enjoy the fun.

Explore a Japanese Garden in Lethbridge

The Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden was established in 1967 to celebrate, as the website cites, “contributions made by citizens of Japanese ancestry to the multi-cultural community of Lethbridge, Alberta, and as a symbol of international friendship.” General admission includes access to the garden, tea pavilion, rock garden, and the visitor’s centre. Guided tours and special experiences, such as early bird or night owl admission, are also available.

Learn about Trees and Shrubs in Trochu

The Trochu Arboretum & Gardens collects, preserves, and exhibits Alberta’s trees, shrubs and flowers. The grounds exist for scientific and educational purposes, but can be booked in advance for group photos, weddings, or tours. The trails wind you through flora and fauna and there are benches and gazebos so you can pause to appreciate the beauty and hear the birds sing.

Stand Under the World’s Largest Mushrooms in Vilna

The Village of Vilna is home to the world’s largest mushroom replicas. These fun fungi tower 20 feet tall and weigh a whopping 18,000 pounds. Bring a picnic and enjoy the greenery as you take in this fun roadside attraction.
