Foothills entertainment guide for fourth weekend of August

SADDLE UP AT OKOTOKS PRO RODEO

The Okotoks Pro Rodeo returns to the Millarville Racetrack this weekend.

The saddle bronc, bareback, bull riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing, steer riding and team roping action runs over three days with the first performance Friday at 6 p.m., followed by the second Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday’s finale at 1 p.m. New this year is the ladies breakaway roping, held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m.

Saturday evening’s rodeo is followed by the dance featuring KixxSin at 9 p.m.

There will be a ton of local content competing for paycheques with the Foothills area cowboys and cowgirls listed below:

Barrel racing: Suzanne DePaoli (Longview), Saturday. Jenna O’Reilly (Millarville), Saturday. Toni Dixon (Millarville), Sunday. Kylie Whiteside (Longview), Sunday. Bradi Whiteside (Longview), Sunday.

Slack (Saturday, 11 a.m.): Bobbi-June Radford (DeWinton), Kendra Edey (Longview), Crystal Christman (Okotoks), Jerri Duce (Okotoks), Katelyn Jackson (Millarville).

Saddle bronc: Sam Kelts (Stavely), Sunday.

Bareback: Pascal Isabelle (Okotoks), Sunday.

Bull riding: Brock Radford (DeWinton), Friday.

Steer Wrestling: Jonny Webb (Okotoks), Saturday.

HOT AND SPICY

Get your spoons at the ready for Okotoks’ annual Chili Fest and Cook Off featuring an abundance of mild and spicy selections from groups ranging from teachers to businesses. Enjoy live music and an outdoor artisan market. Tasting tickets are $5.

ABUNDANCE OF TALENT

Enjoy some great local talent from singers to poets during Freestyle Friday tonight in downtown Okotoks.

This evening’s event features Richard Moment and is hosted by the Mental Wealth Campaign. Enjoy an evening of abundance of talent from across southern Alberta.
