Time to celebrate

String-strumming quartet The Slocan Ramblers bring their unique style to Turner Valley through the Beneath the Arch Concert Series. The all-male bluegrass quartet  received a Juno Award nomination for Traditional Roots Album of the Year for last year’s full-length album Queen City Jubilee. Kodiak clash

The Okotoks Oilers look to book their ticket to a third straight South final tonight.

Okotoks takes on the visiting Camrose Kodiaks in Game 5 of the Alberta Junior Hockey League South semifinal on March 22 at Pason Centennial Arena sporting a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Camrose staved off elimination with a come-from-behind 4-3 win on home ice in Game 4 on March 19. Okotoks is undefeated in four playoff games at home thus far.

In the other South quarterfinal the heavily favoured Brooks Bandits lead the Canmore Eagles by a 3-1 count.

The South final, with opponents yet to be determined, gets underway on March 29.

Provincial power

The Bantam B Female Hockey provincials skate into town this weekend.

Both Okotoks Gold and Green look to defend home-ice against regional qualifiers from across Alberta.

The action runs March 21 to 24 at Pason Centennial Arena with the gold medal game running on the final day of the event at 3 p.m.
