Lemons for a sweet cause

Expect more than 100 lemonade stands to decorate street corners, pathways and local businesses in Okotoks’ annual Lemonade Day.

Sample a variety of beverages and snacks while enjoying the creativity of the town’s young entrepreneurs. Many are raising money for charities, so be sure to have spare change on you. For more info go to lemonadeday.org/okotoks

Celebrating seniors

Okotoks’ oldest residents are invited to sit back and enjoy themselves while being served a light lunch, refreshment and entertainment, as well as an opportunity to win door prizes, in an event that celebrates seniors during Seniors Week.

When: June 7, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Eat your words

An organization dedicated to keeping books cracked open is celebrating Literacy Month with a fundraising barbecue. Proceeds support the Literacy for Life Foundation, which has been providing foundational learning and literacy in the Foothills for 20 years.

Turn up the volume

Talented jazz musicians in Okotoks will showcase their skills in the Foothills Philharmonic Vocal Jazz Group’s spring performance ’S Wonderful with a guest appearance by MzBehavin’. Tickets to attend cost $20 for adults and $15 for children and seniors. Those 12 and under are free.

Diamond Dawgs

The red-hot Okotoks Dawgs will look to make it eight straight on Friday.

The Dawgs take on the Lethbridge Bulls at 7 p.m. at Seaman Stadium biding for their eighth consecutive win to open the 2019 Western Canadian Baseball League season.

The Dawgs are on the road following the Friday tilt, with the next home date on June 16. For more information go to dawgsbaseball.ca
