Embark on a journey that explores many facets of climate change in a curatorial tour. Tour the Okotoks Art Gallery exhibit, To What Degree? Canada in a Changing Climate, to learn stories of people and ecosystems that have adapted to the changing climate. After the tour, head to the RPAC to view the documentary Before the Flood, a riveting account of the dramatic changes occurring due to climate change.

Seasonal bliss

The Foothills Philharmonic Society’s Men’s Chorus presents Seasons of Love, featuring guest artists MzBehavin’ and cellist Karen Dees, showcasing different sides of the most fundamental emotions that bind people together. Big voices

Don’t miss the biggest sing off event of the season in Okotoks. The Big Rock Singers are giving listeners a musical showdown they won’t forget featuring rock, country, Broadway, pop and British invasion in its performance It’s a Sing Off.

Jane's Walk

Another international event is coming to Okotoks this month, looking to combine socializing, history, and walking. Join your neighbours for the inaugural Jane’s Walk on May 4.

Following the annual River Valley and Community Clean Up, the walk promises to be an informative way to meet other members of the community.

The Clean Up will start at 9 a.m., and will be followed by a barbecue at 12 p.m. Jane’s Walk will start at 1:30 p.m. at École Beausoleil on Milligan Drive, across from Drake Landing Loop. The school has given walk participants permission to use its parking lot.

Hit the trails

Lace up those running shoes and head on down to Ethel Tucker Park for its Hike for Hospice Palliative Care event to raise money for the Foothills Country Hospice Society. The day’s festivities and scenic five kilometre hike along the Sheep River trail will be followed by a barbecue. Registration costs $10 or free for children ages five and younger.

Big band sound

Enjoy some great local talent in an afternoon of music in the Foothills Music Society’s Annual Spring Concert.

The concert features both concert and jazz band performances. Admission is by donation with proceeds going to the Okotoks Food Bank. More details at foothillsmusicsociety.com

Cavalry kick-off

Spruce Meadows plays host to the inaugural Canadian Premier League soccer match on May 4 at 1:30 p.m. as the Cavalry FC take on the visiting York 9 FC.

The brand new ATCO Field, constructed on the Meadows of the Greens ring at the famed showjumping venue, has the capacity to house 6000 supporters.

Spring Classic

The Okotoks Raiders Lacrosse Association puts on its marquee event of the box season this weekend.

Well over one thousand athletes on 56 teams will compete in the Spring Classic Tournament, ranging from Midget to Tyke.

The teams will compete out of the Crescent Point Regional Field House and Okotoks Recreation Centre from May 3-5.
