The Airdrie Rotary Club’s first annual golf tournament was a smashing success. The organization generated $15,000 and passed out cheques to local community clubs and volunteer groups during the evening.

The tournament was held at Woodside Golf Club with a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start and was co-organized by Star Dance Parents Society (SDPS).

Proceeds from the event were split between the Rotary and SDPS.

Eighty-five people hit the links and 105 attended the evening’s supper. Silent and live auction items were a hit, including a autographed Calgary Flames’ jersey, a limited edition animal print from Bass Pro Shops and a set of ladies’ irons. A number of charities received $2,000 and organizer Derek Lalonde wants to increase that number to $5,000 for next years’ event.
