The annual general meeting was held on Jan. 27, following a delicious potluck lunch. We have a new secretary, Carol Gibson; a new treasurer, Bev Goble; and one new director, Philip Pack.

The annual general meeting was held on Jan. 27, following a delicious potluck lunch. We have a new secretary, Carol Gibson; a new treasurer, Bev Goble; and one new director, Philip Pack. We welcome our executive for 2011, it’s a big job representing 200 plus members.

The money for the Tommy Hunter and the Daniel O’Donnell shows should be in to Mary-Ann Smith by Feb. 15. You are all invited to attend Richard’s “Sherriff” show on Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. at VNC. Cost is $10 with coffee and goodies to follow.

There was an unusually large flock of waxwings in the trees across the road from my house on Friday; they were feverishly foraging for food. How did they know we were in for a monumental snowstorm? Sometimes I think the birds are more in the know than our meteorologists, although this dump of snow was definitely forecast.

Drop in to St. George’s on Feb. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. They are having a Family Fun Sale. They will be featuring books, board games, puzzles and videos etc. Donations may be dropped off at the church hall on Feb. 2 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
