News from the Valley Neighbours' Club

June 8 was cleaning day at VNC. Twelve members arrived at 9 a.m. and we cleaned our building from top to bottom and I am not kidding. It is amazing how much work 12 people can do in three hours.

June 8 was cleaning day at VNC. Twelve members arrived at 9 a.m. and we cleaned our building from top to bottom and I am not kidding. It is amazing how much work 12 people can do in three hours. I suggested that they all come to my house next week, but no one took me up on my offer.

June 27 will be the last day of floor curling until September. We had planned to continue over the summer, but plans have changed.

There was an interesting rebuttal to Eileen Brownell’s letter in the June 8 Wheel. I enjoy the Letters to the Editor almost as much as I enjoy John’s editorials. I’m glad we are still getting our Western Wheel despite the postal strike.

Millarville School will celebrate a 60th anniversary this year, and they are having a reunion from June 30 to July2. What a great way to reconnect with old friends and neighbours. Register by June 15 by calling 403-938-7832 or access their website at millarville.fsd38.ab.ca. Cost is very reasonable: $20 for adults and $10 for children aged seven to 16, which includes a barbecue on Thursday evening at the school and beef on a bun, beans and salad on Saturday at the Millarville Racetrack Hall.

This rain is not good for the saskatoons, it washes all the pollen off, which doesn’t do much for the berry crop. I’m glad I still have some of last years’ bumper crop in the freezer.

Mark your calendar and call Wendy to reserve a seat for the next Legion senior’s supper on June 27.
