Prepare to get personal when a pair of singer-songwriters come clean on the Rotary Performing Arts Centre stage on Saturday.

Leslie Alexander and Jenny Allen are bringing their folk and roots infused Allen & Alexander Do Dirty Laundry tour to Okotoks.

The duo are touring in support of their latest albums, which emerged from an earlier cross-Canada tour where they got to know each other and their own personal “dirty laundry.”

“It’s probably true for most songwriters that we get our inspiration out of what happens in our lives,” she said. “When something big happens I tend to synthesize it by writing a song about it.”

They will perform at the RPAC on Feb. 4 and in Vulcan on Feb. 11 for the Alberta Artist Series.

They will take the tour to the Memphis Folk Alliance in Tennessee later this month. The Okotoks and Vulcan dates are part of a series of shows in Alberta and B.C. to prepare for the Memphis event.

High River native Alexander is promoting her new album Nobody’s Baby, while Calgarian Allen’s latest offering is titled Blanket. The albums will be available for sale at the concert.

The duo will perform songs from their own repertoire as well as a few they wrote together and it will just be the two of them on the stage. Both support each other’s vocal harmonies and play acoustic guitar, as well as percussion and a range of assorted instruments

Alexander said the pair have a good time on the stage enjoying each other’s company and music.

“You can expect some laughs, you can expect a good range of material, everything from heart-felt, softer intimate material to some pretty rockin’ stuff for a couple of chicks,” she said.

The performance is part of the RPAC’s On With the Show concert series.

The concert will start at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 plus GST and are available at the Okotoks Art Gallery at the Station. Rush seating will be available at the door for $30.
