Three renowned musicians including a Nashville icon will be performing a unique, intimate concert at Music Centre Canada in Okotoks on March 4.

Wyatt Easterling will headline a trio that will also include two-time Juno nominee Larry Vannatta and Calgary singer/songwriter Carolyn Harley at a Songwriters in the Round Concert at Music Centre Canada’s concert stage.

Music Centre Canada owner Kelly Vance said the concert in the round format is quite popular and a unique opportunity to interact with some outstanding musicians.

“This will be a more personal atmosphere, it will be more like a living room where you actually get to meet with the musician and talk to them,” said Vance.

Vance said he is excited to have Easterling on the roster as the Nashville artist has an impressive resume.

“He has worked with some huge names and he has done some great things,” said Vance of Easterling. “He is the real deal. He brings a lot of credibility.”

Easterling has indeed had an impressive career in the music industry beginning as an executive with Atlantic Records in Nashville where he signed multi-platinum artists John Michael Montgomery, Neal McCoy and Tracy Lawrence to their first record deals. Easterling produced Montgomery’s album “Life’s A Dance” which went triple platinum.

He has also worked with Keith Urban, Peter Frampton, Carole King, Cher and Sting.

Now Easterling is back to doing what he loves best, writing and performing music across North America.

“I’m a songwriter with deep country and folk ties; I like to write little vignettes about everyday life,” said Easterling.

His intricate guitar work and smooth voice pulls in the listener to hear his lyrics filled with simple truths.

Easterling is currently touring in support of his new release, “Where this River Goes” which he said captures his observations of the world around him. From the title track to his duet with Jessi Colter Jennings (“Sounds Like Life to Me”), the album is a rich collection of poignant stories drawn from a life well lived.

At his performance in Okotoks Easterling will discuss his music with the audience as well as the stories behind the songs. In addition, he will be hosting a songwriter’s clinic on March 5 at Music Centre Canada.

Vance said the concert is the first of many interactive performances he is hoping to host at Music Centre Canada.

“We are trying to so more clinics and songwriting workshops,” he said.

Friday’s Songwriters in the Round Concert will feature Easterling, Vannatta and Harley all on stage at the same time taking turns performing. They will also take time to answer questions and speak to the audience.

“This is strictly an opportunity to promote the artists,” said Vance.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and the concert will be from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Tickets are available at Music Centre Canada.
