Carnival brings summer to a close

No one may want to admit it, but summer is almost over and the Alliance Church in Okotoks is ready to celebrate the arrival of fall.

The Okotoks Alliance Church will be hosting its annual Fall Carnival on Saturday, Sept. 10 and it will include food, children’s games and other family activities.

Pastor Tim Korthuis of the Okotoks Alliance Church said the festival is open to the public and it is an opportunity to welcome families back from their summer holidays.

“Families go away for the summer and when fall starts up again this is a chance to get together,” said Korthuis. “This event is open to anyone who wants to come by and just hang out. It is really casual, it is just a chance to be with friends and have a good time.

Korthuis said the event is one of the church’s largest events of the year as it usually attracts more than 200 people who come and enjoy the barbecue, treats and musical entertainment.

Musicians from the church will be performing on an outdoor stage during the festival while there will be numerous activities including mini-golf, basketball and a bouncy castle for the children.

The event will be held outdoors weather permitting. If the weather is poor the event will be moved inside the church.

The Okotoks Alliance Church’s Fall Festival is free and open to the public and will be held from 10 a.m. to noon.
