Okotoks area COVID-19 update

Covid-19

Following is an update for active COVID-19 cases in the Okotoks area as of 4 p.m. on May 26 according to Alberta government statistics.

Town of Okotoks  — 73

Foothills County — 33

High River — 13

There were a total of 512 new cases identified in the province over the past 24 hours bringing the total of active cases in Alberta to 9,277, 34.3 per cent of which are variants of concern.

Currently, there are 517 patients hospitalized with COVID, 147 of whom are in ICU.

Province-wide restrictions were put in place earlier in the month to stop the spike and combat the rising active case count and hospitalization numbers.

Premier Jason Kenney announced his reopening plan during a May 26 press conference, introducing a three step province-wide plan towards eased restrictions based on hospitalizations numbers and the percentage of vaccinations amongst the eligible population. Step 1 of Alberta's Open for Summer Plan is set to begin on June 1.
