Okotoks area COVID-19 update

Following is an update for active COVID-19 cases in the Okotoks area as of 4 p.m. on Jan. 27 according to Alberta government statistics.

Town of Okotoks  —  18

Foothills County — 22

High River — 12

There were a total of 459 new cases identified in the province over the past 24 hours bringing the total of active cases in Alberta to 8,203.

Currently, there are 604 patients hospitalized with COVID, 110 of whom are in ICU.

The province announced 101,123 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered as of Jan. 26. To date, 11,362 Albertans have been fully immunized with two doses.

A mandatory mask bylaw is in place for all indoor facilities as a result of Okotoks hitting 15 active cases.

The bylaw will continue until Okotoks has 30 consecutive days of being below 'watch' status, which is 15 active cases. Okotoks is currently on the enhanced watch list. The bylaw went into place on Oct. 26 when Okotoks recorded 16 cases.

A lessening of restrictions to allow limited services to personal services businesses, such as hair salons by appointment only, began on Jan. 18.
