Okotoks area COVID-19 update

Following is an update for active COVID-19 cases in the Okotoks area as of 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 20 according to Alberta government statistics.

There were a total of 669 new cases identified in the province over the past 24 hours bringing the total of active cases in Alberta to 10,565.

Currently, there are 744 patients hospitalized with COVID, 124 of whom are in ICU.

The province announced 95,243 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered as of Jan. 19.

A mandatory mask bylaw is in place for all indoor facilities as a result of Okotoks hitting 15 active cases.

The bylaw will continue until Okotoks has 30 consecutive days of being below 'watch' status, which is 15 active cases. Okotoks is currently on the enhanced watch list. The bylaw went into place on Oct. 26 when Okotoks recorded 16 cases.

Premier Jason Kenney announced new public health measures on Dec. 8 to see them click here. The Premier announced on Jan. 7 the restrictions will remain in place until at least Jan. 21 except for the return of in-person classes at schools which commenced on Jan. 11.

A lessening of restrictions to allow limited services to personal services businesses, such as hair salons by appointment only, began on Jan. 18.
