GALLERY: Young Okotoks entrepreneurs boost their businesses

The McMan Okotoks Family Resource Network hosted its first-ever youth market on Saturday, April 20.

It's never too early to start a business.

Young entrepreneurs ages six and up were at a youth artisan market hosted by the McMan Okotoks Family Resource Network on Saturday, April 20.

"This is the first kids' market they've done and I'm really happy to be a part of it and show my creations within the community," said 17-year-old Kingston Peters, who had handmade macrame bracelets up for sale.

"I think it's a really good impact. It shows how much kids are interested in being small entrepreneurs and figuring their way with making money and seeing what that's like."

Twenty-five vendors set up shop at the inaugural market, and the organization is looking forward to hosting the successful event again.

"The biggest things that we do is support families within the community," said program supervisor Taylor Malyon. "We have quite a lot of families that come in, that we work with, their kids are super creative and they do lots of cool things."
