OLDS — Two people have been arrested and one man remains wanted by police after a drug bust in Mountain View County.
On July, 28, after a month-long investigation, Olds and Didsbury RCMP, the Southern Alberta Emergency Response Team and Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances search warrant at a property on Highway 791 in Mountain View County.
As a result of that search, police seized:
• 16 grams of suspected fentanyl;
• 353 grams of suspected methamphetamine;
• 20 grams of suspected cocaine;
• five grams of suspected heroin;
• one sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun with ammunition;
• one cross bow and eight knives; and
a collection of new Milwaukee tools, still in their sealed shipping boxes.
RCMP allege that Matthew Goodine 47, of Red Deer County, has a connection to those items. He was not present during the search and remains wanted by police.
Goodine faces 18 charges:
• three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine;
• possession of stolen property under $5,000;
• five counts of failing to comply with a release order; and
• nine weapons and firearms-related offences.
Alyssa Friendship 28, and Jayden Desaulniers 27, of Red Deer County, were arrested. Each faces the following charges:
• three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine; and
• possession of stolen property Under $5,000.
Friendship and Desaulniers are both scheduled to face those charges in Alberta Court of Justice in Didsbury on Sept. 11 after being released on conditions.
“This was a successful operation targeting a repeat offender and his associates,” Staff Sgt Warren Wright, the commanding officer of Olds RCMP said in a news release.
“Focusing our enforcement efforts on offenders such as these can have the largest impact on reducing crime in our communities.”
