RCMP are continuing to investigate an incident in which they say a Calgary-area youth phoned in a bomb threat to the Olds Hospital & Care Centre.

Const. Kelsey Davidge said the call was placed on Friday, March 29.

According to Davidge, the female caller said, “I planted a bomb at your hospital.”

Olds and Didsbury RCMP responded.

“Extensive searches of the premises were conducted and no suspicious persons or packages were located,” Davidge said during an interview with the Albertan.

“Members interviewed multiple staff and were advised that the hospital doors have been locked since early that evening and we're satisfied that no one had entered the building,” she added.

Davidge said police traced the origin of the call to a youth in the Calgary area.

She said as of Monday, April 1, no charges had been laid but that the youth’s parents had been contacted and are “participating with the investigation.”
