Cold Lake RCMP seized 60 firearms, suspected cocaine, and $2,700 in Canadian currency for a Cold Lake North Residence. A 42-year-old man is now in custody.

COLD LAKE – An investigation into a road rage incident that occurred in the City of Cold Lake led to the arrest of a 42-year-old man that included other alleged criminal activity not related to the initial incident.

In the early morning hours of July 28, Cold Lake RCMP received a complaint of a road rage incident.

“The victims reported having been chased from a gas station after an interaction at the location involving an unknown male,” according to information provided by Cold Lake RCMP.

It was reported that the man chased the victim’s vehicle, at one point stopping and beating on their vehicle window. The chase then continued to a nearby intersection where it was alleged that the same man produced a handgun and pointed it at the victims before they were eventually able to evade him, according to police.

Cold Lake RCMP’s General Investigations Section initiated an investigation into the incident.

On Aug. 17, officers arrested 42-year-old Cold Lake resident Frederick James Daly and executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of Cold Lake North.

“With the assistance of the RCMP’s Emergency Response Team, police executed the search warrant and located over 60 firearms and a large quantity of ammunition inside,” according to RCMP.

Police have determined that many of the firearms were not properly stored and/or were not legally possessed.

Police also reported locating approximately 92 grams of suspected cocaine, $2,700 in Canadian currency and other drug paraphernalia consistent with trafficking.

Daly has been charged with pointing a firearm, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime.

The 42-year-old also faces charges of unsafe storage of a firearm and possession of a restricted/prohibited firearm with ammunition.

Daly was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody and will appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Bonnyville on Aug. 22.
