Grad camping trip ends with armed robbery

A suspect in a white Kia Sportage, who was brandishing a firearm, approached a group of camping teens at the Sandy Lake Wilderness Area and demanded car keys and some other items.

SANDY LAKE WILDERNESS AREA - A person brandishing a firearm robbed a group of teens camping at an after-grad event north west of St. Albert. 

On June 4 just 5:30 a.m. Morinville RCMP received a report that a suspect in a white Kia Sportage approached a group of camping teens at the Sandy Lake Wilderness Area while brandishing a firearm and demanded car keys and some other items. 

The suspect left with the victim's vehicle, which has since been recovered. A second suspect was seen in the Kia. 

RCMP believe that the suspects also stole other items from different victims by breaking into vehicles and tents throughout the evening. 

The first suspect is described as a male, with dark skin that stands at five-foot six-inches tall and has an average build. 

The second suspect is believed to be a woman with blonde hair. 

The dup were spotted in a white Kia Sportage with black marks on the front bumper. The vehicle was dirty at the time of the incident and had beat up fenders on the sides of the vehicle.
