Calgary teen charged in Cross Iron Mills knife attack

As a result of a stabbing which occurred at Cross Iron Mills mall on Nov. 24, 2023, Airdrie RCMP have charged a 17-year-old male, a resident of Calgary, with numerous offences.

As a result of a stabbing which occurred at Cross Iron Mills mall on Nov. 24, 2023, Airdrie RCMP have charged a 17-year-old male, a resident of Calgary, with numerous offences. The youth was arrested without incident at his Calgary residence on Nov. 30.

On Nov. 25, 2023, three suspects were taken into custody as they were located in a vehicle associated to the incident. They were later determined to have not been involved in the stabbing and were released without charges.

RCMP believe the stabbing to be an isolated incident.

The 17-year-old Calgary resident, who cannot be named due to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with the following:

 

  • Aggravated Assault x 3
  • Assault with a Weapon x 3
  • Mischief Under $5000
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

 

After a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, the youth was released on conditions. He is to appear at Alberta Court of Justice in Airdrie on Dec. 21, 2023.
